Natural Environments

Our focus at Kisampa is to educate people on finding more sustainable ways to profit from the natural environment that surrounds them.

The trees at Kisampa, act like a carbon sink; natural systems that store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Our aim is to protect these trees using the funds that people donate from offsetting their carbon during their travels to Tanzania.

Each person travelling would commit a few dollars per day, per traveller, which goes into a fund that helps the conservation of trees at Kisampa, or any other site in Tanzania.

Community

Kisampa is all about people and community. ‘Tuende Pamoja’ is a registered charity based at Kisampa conservancy which utilises a not for profit entity to raise money and resources which are channelled into community development projects, prioritised by the community themselves.

Matipwili residents are employed at Kisampa and have developed skills in hospitality, wildlife management, and anti-poaching activities.

Teunde Pamoja means “Let’s move forward together” in Swahili.

By donating to Kisampa Carbon Zero you enable us to continue to serve this community and work alongside them to achieve our shared goals.

Biodiversity

The forests in Kisampa house many species of animals; Elephants, Zebra, Antelope, Leopards and Hyenas are just a few of the many species we see walking through Kisampa.

Our work in wildlife-rich forests allows us to monitor the different species we see through camera traps and foot patrols.

In the near future we will be working towards a new project called ‘Kimbilio at Kisampa’ where we aim to develop a wildlife rehabilitation facility in collaboration with local and international academic institutions, with the intent to reintroduce injured, sick or orphaned animals into the wild.

By donating to Kisampa Carbon Zero, you enable us to work towards continued protection of the habitats of these amazing species.

Environmental Education

One of the main focuses at Kisampa is to educate people to find more sustainable ways to profit from the natural environment that surrounds them.

Environmental education can provide people with the necessary knowledge, behaviour changes and skills that are needed in order to successfully carry out climate change mitigation and adaptation: it “can enable individuals and communities to make informed decisions and take action for climate-resilient sustainable development.”

Multiple local and international schools visit Kisampa to learn about ecology and conservation.
